Dr. Emily Weeks reflects on attending the 27th Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center and the many ways each of us can create a lasting impact.

Dear friends and colleagues, This past weekend, I had the privilege of witnessing Bill Maher receive the 27th Mark Twain Prize for American Humor at the Kennedy Center as a guest of Wells Fargo, a partner of America The Beautiful Foundation.

The Mark Twain Prize recognizes individuals whose work has influenced American society through humor, storytelling, and fearless commentary. The evening served as a powerful reminder that each of us has an opportunity to make a difference through our own unique talents and contributions.

Whether through America The Beautiful Foundation, or another organization, my mission has always remained the same: to strengthen lives by investing in people.

Lasting change begins with resilient communities, healthy families, empowered women, meaningful partnerships, quality education, a thriving culture, and opportunities that inspire others to lead.

I was grateful for the opportunity to spend time with leaders, artists, innovators, and changemakers who are using their individual gifts to create positive change.

Thank you to America The Beautiful Foundation and Wells Fargo for an unforgettable weekend and for bringing together people who believe leadership is defined not only by what we achieve, but also by the positive impact we leave on others.

Here’s to continuing the work, together.
