We Will Never Forget

Twenty-five years ago, our nation experienced a tragedy that forever changed America.

On September 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 lives were lost in New York City, at the Pentagon, and aboard Flight 93 in Pennsylvania. Families lost loved ones. Communities experienced unimaginable grief. First responders ran toward danger. And people across the country stepped forward to help strangers, neighbors, and one another.

Today, America The Beautiful Foundation joins Americans across the country in remembering those we lost and honoring the heroes whose courage and sacrifice continue to inspire us.

REMEMBERING THE SPIRIT OF SERVICE

The story of September 11 is one of profound loss, but it is also a story of extraordinary service.

Firefighters, police officers, paramedics, members of our military, medical professionals, volunteers, and everyday citizens answered the call. In the days and months that followed, Americans donated blood, delivered supplies, supported grieving families, volunteered in their communities, and found countless ways to serve.

Twenty-five years later, that spirit still matters.

At America The Beautiful Foundation, we believe strong communities are built by people who are willing to care for one another, prepare for challenges, protect the places we call home, and step forward when their neighbors need them.

Resilience is not simply the ability to withstand adversity. It is the strength we build together before, during, and after difficult moments.

HONORING OUR FIRST RESPONDERS

On September 11, 2001, 343 FDNY firefighters were among those who lost their lives at the World Trade Center.

Their sacrifice remains one of the most powerful reminders of what service can require.

Across America today, firefighters and other first responders continue to protect our communities from fires, natural disasters, medical emergencies, and countless other threats. Many serve communities facing increasingly complex challenges, from extreme weather and wildfire to infrastructure and public health emergencies.

We honor them not only with our words, but by recognizing the importance of stronger, safer, and better-prepared communities.

THE AMERICA WE BUILD TOGETHER September 11 reminds us that America's greatest strength has always been its people.

It is found in the firefighter answering the call. The volunteer showing up to help. The teacher preparing the next generation. The neighbor checking on a neighbor. The communities that come together when circumstances try to pull them apart. As we remember September 11, may we carry forward the courage, compassion, service, and unity that Americans demonstrated in its aftermath.

May we continue building communities that are stronger and more resilient. May we continue serving one another. And may we never forget those whose lives were lost and those who gave everything trying to save others.
