Reforest Initiative

Reforestation Initiative

Our Reforestation Initiative is a national, 5-million-acre reforestation and restoration program

Millions of acres of burned forest, worn-out farmland, and abandoned mine sites are waiting to become forests again, and public agencies lack the funding to close the gap. ATBF’s Reforestation Initiative targets 5,000,000 acres nationally: 3,000,000 acres of post-wildfire land in the West, 1,000,000 acres of agricultural land afforestation, reforestation, and restoration in the Midwest and Great Lakes, and 1,000,000 acres of degraded mine lands and brownfield sites in the Southeast. The program supports the entire supply chain, seed and cone collection, propagation, land preparation, environmental compliance, planning, planting, and long-term monitoring.
